Everything you need to know about ordering a custom dance dress or buying a ready-to-wear one. More about the atelier — on our About page.
How much does a custom dance dress cost?
Custom dresses start at $1,800 and typically range up to $4,000+, depending on the complexity of the design and the amount and quality of decorative elements. Worldwide delivery is usually included in the price.
How long does it take to make a dress?
The standard production time is 6–8 weeks. A rush order can be completed in 2–3 weeks if the fabrics and decor are in stock; a small rush fee may apply.
Can you make my dress if I live in another country?
Yes — most of our dresses are made fully remotely. You take your measurements using our measurement chart, and we do the rest. Since all fabrics are stretch, the fit is excellent without in-person fittings.
How does the design process work?
One sketch is included in the price, created to your preferences. Minor changes are free. An additional sketch is $200 each.
How do I describe the dress I want?
Send us photos or videos of dresses you love — from our gallery, Instagram or any other source. We’ll walk you through the key choices together: skirt length and shape, neckline, back, sleeves and colour.
What are the payment terms?
We ask for a 50% deposit before starting the sketch, and the balance before the finished dress is shipped. We accept PayPal, bank transfer and cryptocurrency.
Do you make dresses for children and juniors?
Yes — but only with an in-person fitting, so this service is available for clients in Ukraine.
Can you refresh or repair my Grand Amour dress?
Yes. Clients regularly send us their Grand Amour dresses for refreshing: dry cleaning, replacing lost stones, small repairs. Depending on the condition, this costs $100–300.
How do I buy a ready-to-wear dress?
Send us your measurements — bust, waist, hips and height. If the dress fits, you complete the payment and we ship it right away. Minor adjustments are possible.
Can I try a dress on?
If the dress is in Lviv — yes, you are welcome to visit our showroom and try it on.
Can I return a purchased dress?
Sold dresses are generally not returnable, which is why we carefully check measurements with you before shipping.
What fabrics and crystals do you use?
We work with Chrisanne Clover — the world standard in dance fabrics (Grand Amour is an official distributor) — and use Swarovski, Preciosa and premium-grade crystals.
Why Chrisanne Clover?
A dance dress needs several different fabrics in exactly the same shade — almost impossible to find in a regular store. Chrisanne Clover specialises in dance fabrics (stretchy, durable, colourfast) and keeps nearly everything in stock. Fabrics from other suppliers are possible too — just longer and more expensive.
What is a float?
A float is a piece of light, airy fabric attached at the sleeves or back of a Smooth or Standard dress. It flies behind the dancer, adding volume and drama to every line. On Standard gowns, floats can also be made of ostrich feather boa.
How should I care for my dress?
Gentle hand washing or dry cleaning. If anything ever goes wrong with your dress, contact us — we solve every problem, even years after purchase.
Where do you ship and how long does it take?
Worldwide with DHL (Nova Poshta within Ukraine); shipping is usually included in the price. Ukraine: 1–2 days. Europe: up to 5 days. USA and Asia: 6–7 days.
Who pays customs duties?
Import duties, where applicable, are paid by the recipient. If customs requests a letter from the sender, we provide it within hours — our clients have never had a delivery problem.
Do you rent dresses?
No, we don’t offer dress rental. Grand Amour creates custom-made dresses and sells ready-to-wear pieces from our collection. If you need a dress by a specific competition date, a ready-to-wear dress can often be shipped much faster than a custom order.
Can you make a dress for any body type?
Yes. Every Grand Amour dress is made to your individual measurements, so we create dresses for dancers of any body type, height and age — including plus-size. The design is developed specifically for your figure, so the dress flatters you and stays comfortable and secure throughout the performance.
Can you recreate a dress from a photo?
We don’t copy other designers’ work. You’re welcome to share photos as references — they help us understand the style, silhouette and mood you love. Based on that, we design an original dress created specifically for you.
Do you make dresses for American Smooth and American Rhythm?
Yes — American Smooth and American Rhythm dresses are among the most popular orders from our clients in the USA. A Smooth dress follows the same craftsmanship as our Ballroom (Standard) gowns, and a Rhythm dress as our Latin dresses, with the silhouette and skirt designed for the freedom of movement that American style requires.
What is the difference between American Smooth, Rhythm, Ballroom and Latin dresses?
Rhythm and Latin dresses are practically the same type of dress. American Smooth is close to a Ballroom (Standard) gown, but not identical: a Standard gown usually has a fuller skirt with underskirts — sometimes one or two, and sometimes an additional upper skirt on top, up to four layers for extra volume, while a Smooth dress is lighter and often features a side split for freedom of movement. European dancers order Smooth-style dresses too — in Europe this cut is usually known as a Paso Doble dress. Whichever style you compete in, we design the dress for its specific movement and rules.
